Haiti is a country in the Caribbean. It has a population of 11.4 million. It shares its borders with the Dominican Republic. The island where Haiti and the Dominican Republic are located was inhabited by the indigenous Taíno people. The first European settlement in the Americas was founded in La Navidad, which is the northeastern coast of Haiti today.
