Portuguese Sound Slavic

Portuguese sounds like it’s from Eastern Europe, but why? Portuguese sounds nothing like Russian or Polish, but it doesn’t sound like Spanish or Italian either. The nearest language to Portuguese that doesn’t originate in Portugal is Romanian, which doesn’t make much sense considering these two countries are nowhere near each other and were never even part of the same country until 1815!
